For generations, our growers have devoted themselves to the craft of cultivating exceptional fruit. These artisans nurture more than 40 grape varieties, supplying the region's 180 wineries with the quality grapes that define Ontario wine.

 

From Niagara to Prince Edward County to Lake Eerie North Shore, their vineyards fuel over 70% of Canada's total wine production—a testament to their skill, resilience, and vision.

A Proud Ontario Tradition

Since 1956, the crowning of the Grape King has stood as one of the most distinctive honours in Ontario's grape-growing heritage. This celebrated title is awarded to a grower who demonstrates exceptional vineyard management, deep industry knowledge, and unwavering dedication to the craft.

 

Each year, the appointed Grape King becomes an ambassador for Ontario's grape and wine community—representing the industry at events across the country. Their reign begins with iconic moments like the Mayor's Grape Stomp in Montebello Park and the Meridian Grande Parade at the Niagara Grape & Wine Festival. A symbol of excellence, leadership, and tradition—the Grape King embodies the spirit of Ontario's vineyards.
